The Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) is the fast unit of the Postmodern Era. It is trained in the IFV Factory. It has the the highest speed value in the Postmodern Era and moderately high attack, moderate defense and moderate range. It gains a defense bonus from plains.
Compared to the Mechanized Infantry, the IFV gains 15 attack, 5 defense, 1 range and 4 movement points. It also gains a great bonus of 40 when fighting artillery whilst bonuses on plains and against light units are increased greatly. However it loses bonuses against ranged units.
Usage[]
The IFV is very effective in general, due to their excellent movement and range. If the terrain is easy to pass, they can potentially hit enemy units on the first turn. However they are still quite vulnerable to ranged and heavy units in the Postmodern Era.
Against Same Age Units[]
Commando[]
The IFV is very strong against the Commando, not only because of their increased bonuses against light units, but also their superior range and movement as well. If the Commando takes cover in Forests, then the IFV is at disadvantage, but their movement is generally fast enough to reach them nevertheless.
MG Team[]
Although the MG Team has much less movement than the IFV, the MG Team’s bonuses and Contact ability makes them much stronger when fighting the IFV.
Universal Tank[]
The Universal Tank is a major threat to the IFV. Like previous heavy units against fast units, the Universal Tank’s massive bonuses makes the IFV very ineffective against them.
Rocket Artillery[]
The IFV is the best solution to defeat waves of Rocket Artillery. Having good bonuses and fast movement speed means that they can easily kill them and not receive much damage in return.
