The Satellite Spotter is the ranged military unit of the Future Era. It is unlocked through the Orbital Networks, and is the fourth unlocked unit of the Future Era. It is trained in the Satellite Uplink Center. It can also be received by completing the Up for a Fight Story Quest.
Unlike its predecessor, Anti-Materiel Sniper, it does not possess the Dug In ability, but it possesses the Heat ability. It doesn't have any terrain bonuses and is capable of traveling over water. It also has improved defense and speed, but it has decreased attack and range over the Anti-Materiel Sniper however. It is the first ranged unit in the game that has more defense values than attack values and it has the lowest attack and defense, but it has the second-longest range (after the Rail Gun) and the highest speed (joint with Champions from the same age) in the Future Era. It has massive bonuses against light units and mediocre bonuses against artillery units.
Usage[]
The Satellite Spotter is mainly seen as a less useful unit in the Future Era, primarily due to its very weak attack and defense, despite having a very outstanding movement and range. They are impressively strong against light units, even one or two eras ahead, and are strong against same age and lower artillery units, but they are very vulnerable to heavy units, especially against the Hover Tank and Stealth Tank. They are also generally weak against fast units as well, due to the fact that most of them can attack the Satellite Spotter on the first turn and often cause significant damage to them. Against a variety of units, however, the Satellite Spotter will generally be unable to compete.
Against Same Age Units[]
Hover Tank[]
The Satellite Spotter is almost useless against the Hover Tank. The Hover Tank's Stealth ability and long range means that the Satellite Spotter cannot reach them easily. Furthermore, the Hover Tank has massive bonuses against ranged units and the very poor attack and defense of the Satellite Spotter means that Hover Tanks can easily kill Satellite Spotters and take very little damage back, even when Satellite Spotters do manage to get to them.
Drone Swarm[]
Although the Drone Swarm is very limited in movement and range, the Satellite Spotter cannot really deal much damage to the Drone Swarm. The Drone Swarm has very good bonuses against ranged units, and once the Drone Swarm does inevitably reach the Satellite Spotter, they are effectively finished.
Exoskeleton Soldier[]
The Satellite Spotter is the best solution against the Exoskeleton Soldier; their massive bonuses against light units and outstanding movement and range means that they can easily kill Exoskeleton Soldiers on the first turn, and not receive much damage back.
Rail Gun[]
The Satellite Spotter is generally useful against the Rail Gun, because of their bonuses against artillery units, but the Rail Gun's very strong attack and defense means that the Satellite Spotter will be less useful against them if they have a high attack and defense boost, and the Satellite Spotter can still be finished somewhat easily by the Rail Guns. The main advantage the Satellite Spotter has against the Rail Gun is the Rail Gun's Recharge ability, forcing them to miss out a turn every two turns, and Satellite Spotters will be able to deal double the damage in that time frame.
